The 'entrance' of our theater coming down from the upstairs. Spidey's there to welcome everyone as they enter.

A close up of the movie posters. We really need to invest in some better quality poster frames and we'll probably do that now that we have a true 'theater' environment.

This is a shot down the hallway looking towards the theater. You can seem my framed Tivo Stock on the wall. Kathy bought this for me a few years ago and it's a treasured memento.

The other side of the hallway... behind the door with the 'Employees Only' sign in the laundry room. More theater 'nicknacks' on the right wall.
Another shot of the theater decorations. The 'clapper' and film reels were purchased at "Bed, Bath & Beyond". Home theater is becoming so popular in recent years, your ordinary retailers are starting to market to us enthusiasts.

A shot of our Dolby Digital plaque. We'll have to look getting some DD Plus and EX plaques also.

And here's the DTS plaque. They both look pretty good against the Bellagio Faux Finish walls I think.

Now we're getting somewhere... This is the Carada BW 126", 16x9 fixed screen. This is a great product. We couldn't be happier with the look, performance and quality of the screen. They offer a professional product at a great savings over some of the other 'long time' screen makers.

A straight on view of the screen. We painted the front screen wall and ceiling a flat black based on recommendations from other HT owners and by observing what is typically done in 'real' theaters. It works great and everything really disappears when watching. The font wall just melts away... the ceiling disappears and you're left with just a great view of the picture being projected.

Here you can see who runs this household. These are our two Golden Retriever's beds. They get front row seating. It's funny, they actually do watch occasionally when something catches their attention. We had originally designed beds that would slide into the stage when not in use, but we decided against that during construction. They would have been left out most of the time anyway.

We built the equipment rack into the wall by the screen. This enables better use of non RF remotes and doesn't actually bother us at all. Some folks are distracted having equipment lights blinking up front in a theater environment. In this situation though, it works out well for us.

A close up of the gear in the rack. Details about the equipment are listed at the bottom of this page. In the pic you can see the HD DVR, HD DVD player, a Belkin power conditioner, the Samson 375 watt amp that powers the SVS subwoofer and the Yamaha RX2400 receiver.

A view from the stage looking back onto the seating area. The recliners in the front get the most use by Kathy and I. The rear theater seating is on a 8" riser. It's funny how the leather 'match' fabric shows up a different color on the recliners in pictures. You don't know that at all in person. The black ottomans have storage in them and allow us to keep our throws and extra pillows in them.

We got lucky when we found the rear theater seating here locally. We had found a place online that a lot of folks recommended, but we checked on Craig's List and found almost the exact ones we were looking to purchase. We got a great price and only had to drive about 45 mins to pick them up.
Another shot of the rear seating. The seats were in like new condition and work very well in the room. There's almost room for another row of seating. We may consider adding more in the future.

The SVS subwoofer sits and works well in the room here in the rear corner. It really brings soundtracks to life as I'm sure many of you know.

This screen shot really highlights the black levels possible with the Panasonic AX100U projector in a light controlled room. The picture doesn't really do it justice, but this projector just plain rocks. It's a great HD image and really turns everything from TV to HD DVDs into a "Theater" event.

Here's a quick shot of the back of the equipment rack. This is where the 'jungle of wires' is hidden. I have a monitor hooked up and sitting on top of the rack so that I can make changes to the system, set the DVR to record programs and other administrative tasks, without having to fire up the projector.
